Principles of Great Office Design

We have worked on a wide range of residential and commercial projects, including office buildings. In this article, we will focus on office design, going over a few key principles to keep in mind to make your design a success.

  • Space Management- One key principle of great office design is space management, or making sure you are using the available space effectively. Good space management includes things like placing employees and departments that work together often in close proximity, to ensure they can collaborate more effectively. In addition, you should place the equipment used by each department close by, so they don’t have to waste time going to get it.
  • Lighting- Another principle of great office design is the effective use of lighting, including both natural and artificial lighting. Ensuring there is plenty of natural light in your office space will help improve productivity and reduce eyestrain, but you should also be careful to ensure that glare from the sun does not prevent any employees from using their computer screens.
  • Color Selection- The colors that you use in your office design can have a significant impact on your employees’ productivity and overall morale and can influence client behavior as well. For example, colors like blue and green have been shown to have a calming effect, while bright yellows and oranges can cause eyestrain.
